Frequently Asked Questions
How can I decide if this is going to help?
Starting counselling or therapy can feel daunting and an initial consultation is an opportunity to find out if it is the right step for you. Alongside discussing the practical details, such as the most helpful approach and time frame for you, it is a chance for us to get a sense of whether we can form a therapeutic partnership and work successfully together. There is no obligation to continue after the initial consulation if you decide to seek help elsewhere. However, if you do decide to continue, we will meet once a week at a regular session time and day, for an agreed period of time.
How long will it take?
Counselling can be short-term for an agreed number of sessions, or long-term where there is no fixed time limit. This is discussed at the initial consultation and reviewed as the counselling progresses.
How much will it cost?
There is a standard charge of £60 - £80 (£80 - £100 couples) for the initial consultation of up to 90 minutes.
A fee for the subsequent 50-minutes weekly sessions, should we decide to work together, is discussed and agreed at the initial consultation. The standard fee is £60 - £80 for individuals and £80 - £100 for couples.
I have a limited number of reduced-fee places available for those on low incomes.
